Bio
I am Gavin Chan, a Computer Engineering student at Georgia Tech with a strong interest in systems, architecture, and emerging hardware technologies. I became interested in technology through hands-on problem solving and gradually developed a deeper interest in both hardware and software. What stands out to me about engineering is the ability to take an idea and turn it into something real, whether that means building software, designing a system, or improving the way technology works for people.
Along with academics, I value leadership, discipline, and community. Outside the classroom, I’ve taken on roles in organizations where I’ve been able to create real impact through both technical and creative work. As a Social Media Designer for Asian American Dream, I helped promote events and highlight stories within the community through visual content. My work focused on increasing engagement and making events more visible, which directly contributed to stronger turnout and awareness. That experience showed me how design and communication can shape how people connect with a mission.
I’ve also been involved in organizations like SASE and Georgia Tech Barbell Club, where I’ve contributed to event planning, outreach, and building community. In these roles, I worked on organizing events, creating content, and helping bring people together around shared interests. Whether it was promoting events, designing materials, or contributing ideas, I focused on making experiences more engaging and accessible for others.
Through these experiences, I developed skills beyond just technical ability. I learned how to communicate ideas clearly, work within a team, and think about the user or audience when creating something. I also saw how consistency and attention to detail can directly impact outcomes, whether that’s attendance at an event or the way a message is received.
One thing that has shaped me a lot is powerlifting. It taught me consistency, patience, and the value of long-term improvement. I carry that same mindset into engineering. I like setting goals, staying disciplined, and putting in steady work over time. Whether I am learning a new concept, building a project, or taking on a leadership role, I try to approach it with focus and intention.
